According to a report from Yahoo Food, KFC is testing out a spicy, regional, cult classic in the Pittsburgh area currently.  Nashville Hot Chicken has a large following and is known for being hot, smoky, and somewhat sweet.  Because of this verbose flavor profile, the fact the it’s hard to get it outside of the actual city of Nashville, and a near impossible homemade creation KFC execs think they have a hit.

Update:  Check out our review of the KFC Nashville Hot Chicken Here!

Cooked in an open fryer, instead of the usual pressure fry KFC chicken Original Recipe gets, customers can expect a crispier end result.  Much like their secret Original Recipe chicken, the only known ingredients for the Nashville Hot are cayenne pepper and smoke paprika.  Yahoo Foods says that the chicken is greasy, very spicy (but not too bad), and very flavorful.  It will bested in the Pittsburgh market the next 8 weeks but a national release is supposed to be occurring “very soon”. We happen to have access to these during the test run, so we’ll be sure to have a review up for you guys this week!
