Every once in awhile, a sandwich comes along that changes everything.  Well at least most things.  As our friends at Burger Business told us yesterday, Wendy’s is bringing the Spicy Guacamole Chicken Club to the masses this spring, and Pittsburgh is lucky enough to get a sneak peek because our franchisers jumped the gun.  But some words of advice to this great nation: get excited.  The Spicy Guacamole Chicken Club is a special sandwich and it’s going straight to the Hall of Fame.

Like we mentioned in our post yesterday, this sandwich takes the already amazing ingredients in the Asiago Ranch Chicken Club, and enhances them with the amazing inclusion of guacamole and pepper jack cheese.  That’s a lot of flavors on one butter toasted bun with bacon and the spicy chicken fillet, but on paper they seemingly would create a cornucopia of flavor.

Grabbing a combo for nearly $7 seems a little crazy at a fast food joint but Wendy’s is doing their very best to make this seem like a bargain with their high flying quality items.  The plain white wrapper may seem very barren and bland, but way lays underneath this paper was a fast food titan.

On first glance the Spicy Chicken Guacamole Club looked a little sloppy.  While the promo photos give you the impression that the ranch is a simple accent alongside of the guacamole, my sandwich chef apparently had a bad day and took it out on ranch dressing tube during production.  Despite the slippery slope of slop, it was well worth it to get my hands dirty for this artisan creation.

Opening up the sandwich reveals the key components under the hood.  The Spicy Fillet, pepper jack cheese, apple-wood smoked bacon, and ranch loafing around the bottom of the bun like its own personal love seat.

The top of my bun revealed a reasonable smearing of guacamole tucked in behind an uncharacteristically reasonable leaf of lettuce.  It was almost like the guacamole was cuddling up under a blanket.  While it there wasn’t a bushel boatload full of guac, there was a still a pretty generous amount of the golden green goose.

Biting down I was thoroughly immersed in a wide array of flavors that I haven’t seen since the second Bush administration.  The spiciness of the chicken was cool, calm and collectively enhanced by the ranch and guacamole combo.  The bacon and cheese provided a rich, decadent taste that took this baby over the top.  Best guacamole I’ve seen in mass production, which is a pretty large feet in the hass world.

When these sandwiches drop nationwide, I suggest the unruly masses to fall upon Wendy’s in a raving mob. This sandwich is that good.  4.5 out of 5 for the Spicy Guacamole Chicken Club.
