Popeye’s Chicken, for the longest time, as been that other guy, when it comes to selling fried chicken.  Pretty much always second place in a one horse race with KFC can be quite monotonous, but it hasn’t stopped Popeye’s from producing some really underrated food for 40 years. Their chicken comes hand breaded, in many different varieties, in spicy or mild, loaded with Louisiana’s finest seasonings.  They also do quite well for themselves in the seafood market, selling fried cafish year round.  Their latest promotion, celebrating 40 years in existence, is the return of the Butterfly Shrimp Tackle Box, striking a chord with any Lenten observer.

Coming loaded with 8 butterfly shrimp marinated in their signature Louisiana spices, on top of a nice ample bedding of Cajun fries, and a buttermilk biscuit, the tackle box looks perfect for anyone interested in a tangy, southern feast.  Popeye’s food is busting with flavor and their biscuits might even be better than KFC’s, which is saying quite a bit.
The Tackle Box is value priced at $4.99 and appears to come accompanied by our long, lost associate cocktail sauce.  So grab your fishing reels, gas up your boat, and grab the Butterfly Shrimp Tackle Box at your local Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen.
